Dates for your diary
The 23rd Marrakech International Film Festival is announced for 20–28 November 2026 on the official festival and Moroccan Cinema Centre websites. It is an opportunity to combine cinema with exploring the city. First decide which days you can attend screenings, then arrange the rest of your stay around them. This guide does not replace the organiser’s programme: check its official channels for films, venues and session times.
Applying for your e-pass
The festival offers public accreditation, including for visitors. Its form requests identity details and a photograph. Complete this directly on the official website: Stars does not collect these documents for the festival. The page reviewed specifies an age above 18 and an e-badge sent after approval. Read all conditions before submitting your application. Booking a hotel room does not automatically grant entry to screenings or ceremonies.
Choose screenings without overloading your day
A rewarding festival day does not have to mean back-to-back films. Choose one priority screening and, if it suits your pace, another later on. Leave time to travel, eat and queue. Note the exact venue, film version and available subtitles: these details matter more than a title in a calendar. If consecutive screenings are in different places, allow a real buffer rather than counting only the taxi journey.
Keep the essentials ready before travelling
Save useful confirmations, your accommodation address and the organiser’s information. Keep an offline copy of anything you will need to show, as required by the festival. Check your arrival time in Marrakech too. A screening shortly after landing leaves little room for arrival formalities, luggage and traffic. On travel day, a flexible walk around Guéliz and an unhurried meal may work better than a booking you cannot change.
Staying in Guéliz during the festival
Guéliz combines restaurants, shops and connections to different parts of Marrakech. At Stars Hotel & Spa, return to your room between outings and ask reception for help planning journeys. Staying in Guéliz does not mean every venue is a short walk away: check each address in the programme. Avoid assuming one transfer time will work every evening. Traffic, your starting point and venue access can all affect the actual journey.
A sample day to adapt
Start with breakfast at the hotel, then choose a short visit near your next appointment. A garden or Guéliz walk offers more flexibility than an out-of-town excursion. Eat lunch early enough to reach the screening without rushing. Afterwards, leave time to talk, walk or return for a rest. If you have a second film, check its running time before arranging dinner. This is a suggested framework, not an official festival schedule.
Leave a day for Marrakech
Cinema can shape the trip without filling every hour. Set aside a morning for gardens or the medina, booking ahead where needed. Our city guide offers eight highlights and one-, two- and three-day itineraries for first-time visitors. Group sights by area to reduce backtracking. If you want to see the Atlas or Agafay, choose a day without a priority screening instead of relying on a precisely timed return drive.
Preparing for November evenings
In November, a pleasant day can turn into a cool evening. Bring a jacket and comfortable shoes for waiting and walking. Check the forecast shortly before travelling: climate averages do not describe your particular week. Keep a simple plan for getting back, especially after a late screening. Stars reception is open 24 hours; share the relevant details if you would like information about transport, arrangements and pricing.
Book a stay with room for flexibility
Compare your travel dates with the festival, then check the hotel’s actual availability. Your chosen rate conditions deserve as much attention as the number of nights: review change and cancellation terms when booking. Direct-booking benefits are explained on our dedicated page, together with their conditions. They relate to your Stars stay, not festival services. Contact reception before deciding if you have a specific question.
Your final check
Before each outing, recheck the official programme, confirm the venue and plan your journey. Allow time for entry, without assuming an e-pass guarantees a place at every screening. If a travel guide and the organiser give different information, follow the organiser. This article is dated 1 November 2026; the links below help you check details closer to your visit. The aim is a realistic schedule, an enjoyable stay and time to discover Marrakech.
